Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance

Second Chance Humane Society offers financial assistance to Ouray and San Miguel County residents who would otherwise not be able to afford the costs to spay/neuter their pets. Spay/neuter is the most effective and humane way to reduce pet overpopulation and Second Chance wants to help make this possible for all pet parents to do their part in saving lives.

Program details are below: contact us at 970.626.2273 for more information.

Foster parents serve many roles in providing a second chance to pets in need. Often times Foster Parents simply provide a short-term home for a pet until space is available in the Second Chance Shelter.

Rebate amounts are as follows:

  • Cat Neuter $45
  • Cat Spay/Dog Neuter $55
  • Dog Spay $65

The Second Chance Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance Program is made possible by generous contributions from:

The Colorado Pet Overpopulation Fund

Town of Ridgway

City of Ouray

Telluride Foundation

Town of Telluride's Commission for Community Assistance, Arts & Special Events

Ouray County

San Miguel County

Bottom line: spay/neuter saves lives.

Since an organized and effective national spay/neuter campaign was launched, just over 10 years ago, the number of euthanized pets dropped from over 17 million to under 4 million per year.
