Second Chance is proud to announce that despite an economically challenging year, homeless pet rescues and adoptions were at an all time high for 2009. With 388 pets rescued into the shelter and 316 matched into new loving forever homes, Second Chance was able to complete 100 more adoptions than the previous year. Additionally, 49 lost/stray pets were safely reunited with their parents (the remainder of the rescued pets are awaiting adoption).
Given how 2010 has begun it does not look like the need for rescuing pets will be slowing down, the shelter is full, adoptions are going strong, and the staff are working at full capacity as usual to meet the demands of these pets in need. As always Foster Homes are being sought to help care for young, elderly, ill, or overflow pets. Consider making a difference in the life of a lovable homeless pet.
Call the Second Chance Helpline at 626-2273 to report a lost pet, learn about adopting a homeless pet, or about the SCHS Spay/Neuter Financial Assistance, Volunteer & Foster Care, or other Programs.
